Can't reply directly to your Jeter post, but trading Stanton to the Yankees was no favor. They're stuck with a stiff and his bloated contract.

Why not? Just because he got injured?
Thirty-eight homeruns and 100+ runs and 100+ RBI in 2018 and helping the Yankees win 100 games I'd call a favor.

@beckyromero Not now. He's a strikeout machine and they're stuck with his salary for seven more years. And it's not like he's helped them win anything. And it's ridiculous to think any team owner would put the interest of another team ahead of his own.

You can't pin that as a bad deal at the time for the Yankees. It was a steal of a deal.
And speaking of steals, Stanton walked and stole a base in the Yankees 4-run 6th in the wild card game against Oakland and delivered the coup de grâce with a homer in the 8th.
You need to study baseball history. Used to happen all the time.
Ever hear of "syndicate baseball"? How do you think the National League operated before the Americans moved into the big cities?
And say that to any Red Sox fan. They'll laugh at you as they bring up Harry Frazee.
Then there was Arnold Johnson, owner of Yankee Stadium AND the Kansas City Athletics. Roger Maris anyone? It was so bad that the joke around the league was that KC was a farm club for the Yankees.
And in the '70s there was Cleveland executive Gabe Paul, bundling up Graig Nettles and Chris Chambliss in trades to the Yankees just before becoming part of George Steinbrenner's ownership group.

@beckyromero Why are you so fixated on the past? Can't go back and change it now.

@beckyromero Huh? The past is immutable and cannot be changed. Any intelligent person knows that.

As I said, "yet." 😉
And besides, those who do not learn from history's mistakes are condemned to repeat them.
