Socialists remind me of bratty teenagers.

Bratty teenager: “I work part-time at McDonald’s and make enough to go out with my friends on the weekend, but my dad who gives me cool stuff for my birthday and pays for a roof over my head makes a hundred times more! It’s not fair! WAAAHHHHH! 😩”

Socialist: “I’m upper middle class and can pay for all of my basic needs, but Jeff Bezos who gives me an Amazon Prime subscription, helps me buy alll my Christmas gifts every year, helps the economy of my entire country, and literally sends people into space makes a million times more! It’s not fair! WAAAHHHHH! 😩”

Hmmmm.... as Jeff Bezos thanked his workers, underpaid, for helping him reach space and he talked about his awe moment he heard about when people see the earth from afar. Hmmm.

@thewindupbirdchronicles That moment will become the norm in the coming decades. He may be the only one able to afford to go to space in 2021, but he will start the private space tourism industry, bring the cost down, and maybe someday even I can go to space without having to work for big government/NASA.
@RopinTexan If your dream is going to space and not equitable wages for many, but okay.

@thewindupbirdchronicles These people are all psychopaths.
@SW-User Well given the avatar, I imagine loves the old wild wild west of cowboys shooting Indians. It's the same cycle

@thewindupbirdchronicles Both would be nice. But what’s “equitable” is extremely subjective.

@thewindupbirdchronicles Cowboys are awesome. 🤠
@RopinTexan As are your opinions that are equally subjective, why do you celebrate one going to space and other's not having decent wages?
RopinTexan · 31-35, M
@thewindupbirdchronicles I don’t celebrate people not having decent wages. It sucks when people don’t make enough money, I’ve been in that boat. I’d just rather get another job for an employer that actually cares about me than to have the government force my employer to pretend to care about me.

@RopinTexan when people travel to places like France or Mexico City or Niagara Falls… tourism benefits who? The people.

When people blast into outer space, who benefits? The already rich.

Sounds like a great plan.

Good luck

@RopinTexan Unrestricted capitalism creates race to the bottom scenarios - and Amazon’s success means that people competing against are forced to cut costs and wages. This behavior is one of the strengths of market-based economics, but when left unchecked, can create poor outcomes for society at large. Eventually, there are no longer any employers left that can afford to care for their people and still stay in business.

This is why only fools worship the free market - it’s best treated like an explosive material - to be channeled and controlled into useful goals. Gasoline will just as easily burn your house down as power your engine.

Gasoline also smells bad. @QuixoticSoul
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@jackjjackson so do you, but I only rarely mention it.

🤪
