The Trump Coronavirus Death Toll Passes 600,000 Dead Americans

The death toll for the virus Trump denied, said was going away, and wasn't a problem at all is approaching the total dead in the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918-1919, and the total Civil War dead. And though cases and deaths are decreasing in many (mostly blue) states, in states with higher numbers of Trump Cultists and other deniers and anti-vaxxers, cases are increasing, even as more people are getting vaccinated. They may push the death toll still higher as their denial of reality continues.

At the start of the pandemic, the democrats predicted 2.2 million deaths in the US. So I figure that if we have only had 600,000 deaths, we saved around 1.6 million lives. Do you want to give that credit to Trump? I am NOT a Trump supporter by the way.

@Funtoy4u Yeah, it would have been worse if we did nothing at all - and it would have been better if we had strong and competent leadership at the top. Trump did a pretty shit job overall, but between the federal system and inconsistent state response we did something.

@Funtoy4u At the start of the pandemic, we didn't know what was going to happen. The higher numbers were estimates based on limited information and doing nothing. Vaccines were developed and have kept the death toll down, especially where people believe in vaccination. Trump's actions didn't reduce the death toll-they increased it.
