The Trump Coronavirus Death Toll Passes 600,000 Dead Americans

The death toll for the virus Trump denied, said was going away, and wasn't a problem at all is approaching the total dead in the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918-1919, and the total Civil War dead. And though cases and deaths are decreasing in many (mostly blue) states, in states with higher numbers of Trump Cultists and other deniers and anti-vaxxers, cases are increasing, even as more people are getting vaccinated. They may push the death toll still higher as their denial of reality continues.

Time for a little review of Trump's early Covid statements:
Jan 22 “And we have it totally under control... It’s going to be just fine.”
Jan 24, he tweeted “It will all work out well.”
Jan 30: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
Feb 05 CDC started shipping test kits. They didn't work.
Feb 07 to Woodward: “It goes through the air. That’s always tougher than the touch. You don’t have to touch things. Right? But the air, you just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed. And so that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flus.”
Feb 10 “Now, the virus that we’re talking about having to do — you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April. We’re in great shape though.”
Feb 19 “I think the numbers are going to get progressively better as we go along.”

Feb 26 “We’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.”
