Obviously mankind is a social and communal animal. The collective will have to do something, on behalf of somebody, using some form of organization. Why not the best? People seem designed for democracy and for doing it as a community. Communism fits like a glove
@Stopmakingsense It depends on our personal intelligence and mindfulness. Marx had that, Trotsky had it and we the people could rise to the occasion IF we could understand how we bury ourselves in ignorance cause we think the stones over our head cover up the risk and personal effort it might take to keep this planet alive. As long as we think some mister/ms smartie-with powerful conections can always do things FOR us...

we'll have the IMPOSSIBLE predatory, exploitive SICKO system that we have now, slowly EATING US ALIVE. And then always coming back and asking sweetly IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE??? As if we love it like an ice cream cone in 99 degree weather...

Its our choice though..as long as there's more of US than THEM..u know the multibillionaires who are taking the whole WAD to fucking HELL with them and sucking us all in afterwards.

OK crucify me again SWeeps. I'm used to it.

Oh and the labels aren't important but understand that MONEY and BANKING are Uber-crucial to any of us getting any of this..even the Marxists didn't grasp all that very well.

Our planetary survival depends on it and we might have a good 6 years now to figure it out. And veganism would be a good start to humanizing ANYTHING here. Love the animals and maybe then we can talk about better politics.

@Elevatorpitches I think our problems boil down to self-interest. & I honestly don't see that changing.

So much for the glories of democracy.

@FCNantes I agree about animal rights, we're conditioned to accept cruelty because we only recognize some rights, not all of them. It's easy to abuse the land and other species if you can't imagine protecting any rights other than your own.
Self interest can easily be extended to all living things.
Self interest can be anything.

@Stopmakingsense "Self interest can easily be extended to all living things.
Self interest can be anything."

Wdym by this?

@FCNantes my self might be defined by its relationship to or participation in a country, a region, Mother Nature, my tribe or my family.
As a compassionate child of Nature, I have every reason to rebel against capitalism. As a Western European, I have a big huge responsibility to have lots of questions about the way we got here!
As a caretaker for cats I have to question everything.

Assuming all the selves are working for consumer goods or money doesn't seem like a safe bet. They're people, too. They know this can't be right.

@Stopmakingsense I think people tend to do what suits them or those they care about.

Look at shopping habits. How many of those who are well-moneyed make the effort to buy ethically?

How many are going to vote for what they think's best for the collective?
