Here is my conflict.. At the 2020 election 74,222,958 votes were cast for Donald Trump (at least) More if you believe the many conspiracy theories. But lets skip over those. I will concede that over 74 Million is a huge number. And this was after American voters experiencing a Trump administration for Four Years.
To me that means that in spite of not winning by the numbers, he still has that much support. If I were Abraham out of the old Tastament I would think twice before standing up for America if God showed up and decided to stage Sodom and Gommorah, " Strike Two..the return" there. Sacrificing the rest of America to rid the world of that much hatred, ignorance and just plain stupid seems like a fair deal..

So, a giant meteor strike?

@Northwest OK. I see where you are coming from. It has potential. But America the country should be a place where Migrants can move in and start clean. Not a smoking hole in the ground , if possible. I actually like all that Bill of Rights and Statue of Liberty stuff.

@whowasthatmaskedman In the county I live in, 1 out of 4 people are born outside the USA. When you add the second generation residents, you get close to 50% non-white population.

The county is also home to Costco, Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Boeing, SpaceX Satellites, Blue Origin, and thousands of technology companies and the epicenter of computational microbiology. If you turn us into a hole in the ground, there may not be personal computers, fancy coffee, this web site and 25 Lb cashew tubs. I don't think that would be good.

We had a 4-year blip, but I think we're still doing OK. We don't mind supporting the rednecks and hope that someday they will come to their senses or disappear when their future generations realize that drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

@Northwest Excellent. A well thought through and considered comment. On shaky ground with Starbucks, but who can argue with 25 pounds of Cashews?

@whowasthatmaskedman I don't drink coffee, never have, but they have other stuff. My Starbucks monthly bill runs about $300, sometime $600 during the school year. On the other hand, they're also paying $Ms in software royalties to my former startup. A couple of years ago, I saw a 15 Lb tub of Nutella at Costco.

Now, if we include the County I was born and raised in, and the two counties to its north and south, that makes up the Silicon Valley. Similar demographics to my current home, and you don't really want to turn it into a huge hole, do you?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Northwest Well my country like yours had a 25% migrant population (self included). I am not disputing Americas contribution over time. There was that little thing with germany and Japan we all have to be grateful for. And the Moon landing was cool too. In a way thats my question. With all the good stuff America has done. All these people are still threatening each other with such hatred and open corruption of the values American is supposed to stand for. Maybe wiping the board clean is the only way.

@whowasthatmaskedman I noticed that I had a typo (that I corrected). I was not talking about my country, I was talking about my COUNTY. As in the Seattle, Washington metropolitan area. For the County, Biden got 75% of the vote and Trump 22%.

One part of the country (blue states) will be carrying the other part (red states), until the latter evolve. The majority of American still believe in the values the country was founded on, minus the racist stuff. My great, great, grandpa fought in the civil war on the side of the Union, and we won that fight.

@Northwest All duly noted. But I return to the point that 74 Million plus voters dont seem to have that message. Now from the world perspective, you can see that some might consider amputation of a limb to save the patient, even though you might lose some good body tissue in the process.
And I get that the North won the fight. But again its possible some out there havent accepted that one either. Which only makes you wonder how quickly they will get the message this time..

@whowasthatmaskedman Education and time. When I first landed in Washington State, it was a Red State. I used to think voting was a waste of time, because my candidates never won. With an injection of educated people, look at us now. Houston. Parts of North Carolina.

The more educated people get the Bluer the state gets. One of the reasons you notice the SW Trumpsters insist education is a waste of time.

the crux of this issue, is These Guys

there are 2 kinds of people in the world
These guys, and everybody else,.

who are These guys.?

The are the ones that believe, They, and Their Kind, should be on top, unquestionably In Charge, ruling over all others NOT one of Themselves.

those below? need to shut up, and stay in their place and obey without resistance.
or be punished or killed.
In the Worse Cases, the want to convert or exterminate those not of Their Kind

some of these guys are Americans, on the hard left AND the extreme right.

some of these guys Claim Religion. "our god and our way is the only way the rest of you are dammed, and are less than human." like Christian Nationalists, or Islamic Fundamentalists.

some of these guys claim heritage. "My People have ruled for generations, thus proving our superiority" The Old nobility, the colonial powers. or just those that won the last war..

some of these guys claim race, "all Gweilo are Just animals." or "White means Right"...

no matter where they start, they all have one thing in common

We should rule, others should be ruled, or eradicated.

there are many of of these guys in SW and all cross America
millions of them

they cannot tolerate those not like themselves
and that is the rest of us. all Colors creed and kinds

@SatyrService I agree.. And that sends me looking for reasons. My country was founded not long after, from the same seed culture and language and like America has had wave after wave of migration from most of the same places. The two major differences I can see are the mass import of Black slaves and the continuation of that, and the fact that American first settlers were deeply religious zealots who burned witches. Obviously not every early American was either of this things. But somewhere along the way, our culture managed to keep the standard that racial or religious intolerance was fundamentally a bad thing, and people who publicly expressed those opinions where not to be associated with: As opposed to elected to State and federal office.
