Would people still keep working forty hour weeks if we socialize medical care , housing and the internet?

If it didn't cost your whole salary to live, What keeps you working? Do people live even if there's no job to keep them busy?

I enjoy my job, I work >40 hours a week and enjoy public healthcare

Paying my bills is not my motivation to work the same way sex isn't my motivation for entering a relationship

@EuphoricTurtle you deserve a trophy for being able to formulate and express such thoughts! I have a thing for intrinsically motivated people
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@Mindful I wouldn't say I'm intrinsically motivated, I am fortunate to do something I love which allows me certain freedom.

If circumstance were different, and I worked at a job I absolutely hated, then my outlook on this could probably be very different.

Yes, you are very fortunate to do what you love... and that is why some people do work greater than 40/hrs/wk@EuphoricTurtle I’m guessing that is part of your Euphoria, but what is the turtle aspect?
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@Mindful The turtle aspect is how I enjoy that euphoria....slowly. The same way your favourite meal should not be devoured in record time, it should be savoured.
