Republican party is dying.

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/04/fewer-americans-identify-as-republican-in-2021-gallup.html
The continued existence of the republican party becomes nigh impossible to spin and pretend I believe it should it be allowed to go on. At first it was simply that I supported changes to the system and was pissed off anyone would get in our way but now it's given way to maturity which realizes perhaps maybe some bills have unintended consequences and maybe we should think about those things but unfortunately the Republicans who were supposed to serve as a Check on democratic intransigence have abdicated their true responsibilities which was to actually consider the Democratic proposals and educate people about how these proposes would backfire but instead of doing that they just call everything "Radical" on foxz news without explaining at all how those bills would backfire.

The republicans want us to believe the rational behind their filibusters is just how extreme the Democratic Agenda actually is but the reality is it's the republicans who went off the deep and have moved radically to the right while screaming about the potential for the Democrats to go too far left.

of course intellectual honesty on part would tell you that the Democrats HAVE to some VERY limited extent sucessfuly been taken over by the far left- that's ME and my friends btw.

but our ability to force the Democrats to behave as partisans is VERY LIMITED and the party continues to try and work with the oppositon.

Who now no longer actually filibusters the democrats agenda from a place of loyalty to the nation but instead to the instiution of the republican party.

Fillibusters are now motivated entirely by partisan reasons even when whats being obstructed would provide serious relief to the nation.

So we have Partisan fillibusters rather than fillibusters motivated by the potential harm to the innocent or the nation by those fillibusters and you know these ARE NOT happening because the Democrats bills are so terrible because if that were the case they would not be an exploding number of them. Why now? Espeically now? The democrats have made a transitition to the center to a seriously extensive extent and yet the number of fillibusters has exploded and we know since the party has moved right AND The number of fillibusters have exploded that it CANNOT Possibly be because the Democrats bills are so TERRIBLE and some OTHER explaination is necessary and it seems the republicans don't want the Democrats to get anything done because that would legitimize them as a party and in this nakedly partisan motivations has become reflexively obstructionist.

They had a responsibility to prevent the Democrats from going "too far" as it was once put to me, They no longer do that. Instead they're engaged in all out war to prevent the democrats from gaining any legittimacy

which is why I'm like crazywaterspring convinced they need to go the way of the whigs.

i'm convinced not a single republican respects their oath of office and believe they've all abdicated their real responibilies in favor of Partisan politics.

That it will eventually be split up? I have no doubt of it.

That the values of what once was the Republican party will disappear? No way.

This is demonstrated by the current "100" Republican leaders wanting to separate from the party.

As to when? When that will happen is very hard to say. Depends on those 100 or however many. Not the conservative voters. They will either switch to the new party or go along with the other.

They sure as heck won't go along with Bernie Sanders or similar. Or suddenly become democratic. The values don't match. 🤷‍♂️

Few ever switch suddenly from extremes.
@DeWayfarer That’s why I respected the members of the Lincoln Project and RVAT (Republican Voters Against Trump). They knew they weren’t Democrats, but they didn’t want white supremacists like Donald Trump speaking for them, either.

@bijouxbroussard I do as well. I'm one of the first to reply about the lincoln project before the election.
Sadly because of the way voting districts are drawn up they will have disproportionate power for awhile.

The Republican Party needs to go the way of the Whigs and Know Nothing parties.

Fascists don't need public support.
Susie · 26-30, T
I wouldn’t believe that. Because I sure don’t
@Susie Unfortunately they’ve gone from “The Party of Lincoln” to officially representing the KKK, which this country doesn’t need. 🙁

@LvChris I don't like allowing the people being asked to place themselves in whatever box they want because I myself would tell you Oh I'm an independent but if you pressed me hard I'd tell you I lean so far left it's tempting to vote Green but often can be convinced to vote for the Democrat. and technically am a registered member of the Democratic party because being eligible to vote in the primary is important to me.

What will the new party be called?
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@Tastyfrzz The Rational Party.

Pretty much anytime you declare an affliation, you're tarred and feathered by someone online.
