Can someone explain Trump's slogan to me?

First of all, this is a genuine question, not just an excuse to rant at anyone who supports Trump. His supporters are entitled to their views...but would anyone please be willing to help me understand them?

First: Can someone please explain to me what people mean by "make America great again?" I mean, sure America has its problems, but it seems to me that compared to the rest of the world, America is still pretty great. So what exactly is it that makes Trump feel America isn't great?

2nd: When Trump says he's going to make America great AGAIN, to what point in history is he referring? When does he think America was great, and what about that time made it so much better than he thinks it is now?

Ok... answer...
Your second point first - I'm not sure he's referring to any specific point in past history. To me that's a red herring for those attempting to diss him on this.

On the first point - what he means is that there are certain characteristics which made America great... and that have frayed a little bit... and need reinforcing:
1) the idea that Gov't should create roadblocks for people to work
2) the end of judicial mandates, that are interfering with democracy in action
3) restore US military capability and deterrence of the world's bad guys - thus limiting the damage overseas.
4) maybe one of the biggest is the total lack of respect the intelligentsia and government bureaucracies have for democracy, and the people who supposedly employ them... passing down mandates... trying to act as their "betters"
5) Taxes...too high... 'nuff said.
6) A health care system that lowers costs, increase options, and doesn't bankrupt the country...

There's probably more... but that's part of it.

@Djce45: every one of those points are complete red herrings on his part. each one can be easily de constructed and shown to be false and built on a lie. for example. we have one of the lowest tax rates in the world. both business and personal. lowest in forty years. our military is stronger than ever. we spend more than the next 12 nations COMBINED.

@innocentfool: they're not red herrings.. you appear to have no understanding of actual facts. Our tax rates are too high, that's a statistical fact in comparison with others. Our high military budget is 60% personnel costs... besides it's capabilities that matter. You literally don't understand these issues in the least.

@innocentfool: But we don't have to worry... the media and the elite hysteria is surely and regularly discrediting itself to the American electorate. Totally... predictable.

@Djce45: try google searching any report that compares our military budget adn tax rates to the rest of the world if you dont believe me

@innocentfool: As I explained... read a little deeper, and you'll notice those claims are false. Our corporate tax rates are even higher than the EUs. Besides... by reducing the rates, we'll increase the economy (see Kennedy, Reagan, Bush, even Clinton when influenced by Gingrich)... the results are hard to deny. With economic growth we'll eventually reduce the impact of the deficit... and employ more people. Of course.. the left pretends that's not true.

@Djce45: LMAO! Did you seriously just quote trickle down economics as a success? GTFO.

@SW-User Everything you just said is based on a fantasy world view that never existed for America in the first place. It is all built on false perceptions of America. We’ve always had military superiority and still do and he is referring to a specific time it’s a dog whistle for racism and racial superiority and a lie
