Can someone explain Trump's slogan to me?

First of all, this is a genuine question, not just an excuse to rant at anyone who supports Trump. His supporters are entitled to their views...but would anyone please be willing to help me understand them?

First: Can someone please explain to me what people mean by "make America great again?" I mean, sure America has its problems, but it seems to me that compared to the rest of the world, America is still pretty great. So what exactly is it that makes Trump feel America isn't great?

2nd: When Trump says he's going to make America great AGAIN, to what point in history is he referring? When does he think America was great, and what about that time made it so much better than he thinks it is now?

there is no answer to this because the premise of trumps promises are groundless and pointless other than to make people feel good. they can't explain it unless they talk about some ficticious version of america that only worked for white people back in the 1950s but no one will admit that without sounding like a racist. no one will be able to answer this question without resorting to wishful thinking. He certainly will not make it great for most of the people who voted for him. he will for the super rich after he cuts their taxes to %0 as he and paul ryan promised.

Hello innocentfun4u · 46-50, M. Is there a political solution for the disillusionment of our Brave New World? Over 90 Million Eligible Voters Didn't Vote in 2016. An awful lot of people seem to believe it makes no difference to them who wins the presidency of the USA.

that is because the establishment, especially the GOP, has been telling people to be disillusioned and to give up. The GOP has made it a point of undermining faith in all branches of government, our voting system, as well as the press, and selling a message of fear and hate and mistrust ever since nixon started his "southern strategy", so that people lower their expectations. lose confidence, dont trust the media or any source of truth and facts. that way they get to run the show and keep getting elected. These guys dont want you to believe their is a solution so you will give up. they did this so well that they lost control of even their own party and ended up with Trump, which even extablishment GOP hate. they created this monster of ignorance and hate and fear and they can control it any longer other than through voter supression. the solution? hope. more education. will trump make a difference? just watch how bad things get. under bush, who was a fool and clueless, we got a 5 trillion dollar war and the biggest foreign policy blunder of the past 100 years. think of what we wil get with a truly cluesless narcistist who has no self control. he has already ruined relations with china and he isn't even president. his apointees all hate the very job they are appointed to do. the deficit will skyrocket as it always does under republicans.

Hi innocentfun4u. Sadly this all has a familiar ring. I live outside the USA (down under) but many of my friends and family were appalled at Trump's election. This is a problem for the world, not just America. Now, what do we do? Maybe we should focus on those 90 Million Eligible Voters that Didn't Vote in 2016. Trump won some states by a very narrow margin. 90 Million extra votes would make a huge difference, especially in the marginal seats. Your thoughts?

@innocwnt.. dumbest comment on this thread. You can't believe he's going to lower taxes for the wealthy to zero. LOL. Maybe you do. LMAO. Amazing how you left dwellers are so unhinged over this.

@carpediem: I invite you to google search how Ryan and trump have both proposed eliminating the capital gains tax completely. That would effectively lower rich people's taxes to zero
carpediem · 61-69, M
@innocentfun4u Copy and pasted right off the Trump website: The Trump Plan will retain the existing capital gains rate structure (maximum rate of 20 percent) with tax brackets shown above. Carried interest will be taxed as ordinary income.

So you're apparently wrong.

This does not square with what he has said on the campaign trail as well as what Paul Ryan has advocated as well and we both know that Trump says one thing one day and a completely different thing the next day so anything he says cannot be trusted

At best it would be a huge tax cut that wood primarily benefit the wealthy and the middle class taxes would go up. He and a lot of the other GOP have advocated eliminating capital gains taxeshttp://www.npr.org/2016/11/13/501739277/who-benefits-from-donald-trumps-tax-plan
