Can someone explain Trump's slogan to me?

First of all, this is a genuine question, not just an excuse to rant at anyone who supports Trump. His supporters are entitled to their views...but would anyone please be willing to help me understand them?

First: Can someone please explain to me what people mean by "make America great again?" I mean, sure America has its problems, but it seems to me that compared to the rest of the world, America is still pretty great. So what exactly is it that makes Trump feel America isn't great?

2nd: When Trump says he's going to make America great AGAIN, to what point in history is he referring? When does he think America was great, and what about that time made it so much better than he thinks it is now?

Almost everything about the United States has regressed in some peoples opinions.
In particularly the rich getting richer while the poor stay, and get poorer.
Violence, poverty, bigotry, drugs, illegal immigration and many other venues of our nation are vastly out of control.
drugs are a plague in seemingly every major city in the U.S, users being younger and younger as the years pass. Drug addition is a war not easily fought as the drug industry can operate unseen. I can go on, but you get the point.
I live in San Bernardino. When I first we were murder capitol of the world. The amount of murders has only grown since then. We have some of the most violent cities in the world with some of the most drug problems. There are other countries with higher murder rates but that our murder rates in a world power and rich nation like ours can compete for murder and violence states with third world countries begs for change.
The facts are that in in many major cities it is easier for the youth to get illegal drugs over GOOD health care, or that it is easier to get guns and ammo than it is to get jobs and careers. Or the fact that at least in So.Cal. for every American working at an entry level position industrial job there is around a dozen or so migrants working. there. The fact that an American can lose his job for not being fluent in a different language is sad but true.
American veterans who defended our country sleep in gutters and alleyways and push shopping carts while immigrants live in homes and drive suvs
The same meds that cost hundreds of dollars here in the U.S. cost pennies else where. Doctors are quicker to push deadly meds with more deadly side effects than benefits than offer safer, healthier alternative treatments.
Then, we are, for the most part, a war mongering nation.
We have had like 222 years of war out of 239. The same companies that make the weapons of war for the U.s. also manufacturer weapons for it's enemies, making money from death and violence from both sides.
I could go on but i think you get the idea.
I just hope Trump holds up to his hype.

@ladycae: Because rich guys have rich companies. And if the U.S taxes them to.. much, they pull up roots and move their companies to different countries where both taxes and labor are . much, much cheaper. It's like a catch 22 type of thing.

@Ear4u2: Thats politics for you.
And understand this, Republican, or Democrat, liberal or conservative, it doesn't matter.
Democracy, and Republic are like two wings of the same eagle, with oy one main agenda, to preserve its self, at the expense of life. All the same thing in the end. Either way the powerfull and wealthy seem to get what they want regardless of who is in office. Self preservation, self gain is the main goal of either side.

Hello Dorkgerdo. I agree with much of what you have to say about the fallen world in which we live and the cynical nature of human beings in general. I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of the living God who came into this world to tell us that numero uno has a big rescue plan. Unfortunately you have chosen not to allow members to view much of your profile page. If I could see your friends and view your responses I may stand a bit closer to you. God's chosen people have their friends and enemies. According to the Exodus account, Moses held out his staff and the Red Sea was parted by God. The Israelites walked on the exposed ground and crossed the sea, followed by the Egyptian army. Moses again moved his staff once the Israelites had crossed and the sea closed again, drowning the whole Egyptian army. For chapter and verse of the biblical narrative of the escape of the Israelites, led by Moses, from the pursuing Egyptians in the Book of Exodus see Crossing the Red Sea - Wikipedia

I suggest you look up Crossing the Red Sea with Google and select the Wikipedia link from the list of Google results.

@will999: Wait...did you just cite WIKIPEDIA as proof that God parted the Red Sea?

I too am Christian so I respect your beliefs, but I am aware that what I believe in the Bible is based on FAITH, not on provable fact. That is the whole point of having faith. No one has yet to definitively prove the events of the Bible took place as described in the Bible.

You're entitled to believe the events in the Bible took place based on your faith, and I respect that. But PLEASE do not make knowledgeable, intelligent Christians look completely ignorant by claiming that that the Bible is true based on a Wikipedia article!!!

@CrazyTheatreGal: I respect your beliefs too, even though you are way too knowledgeable and intelligent a Christian to ever need a reputable encyclopedia as a convenient source of knowledge or information. To answer your question, NO I did not just cite Wikipedia to proove the Bible. In fact the Bible is the most widely published book in human history and makes much of Wikipedia believable. The Wikipedia account of the Red sea crossing is readily available online. I have not seen a comparable rendering of the Biblical version online, have you? Do we need to argue this point here? Is it relevant to Trump's campaign slogan to "make America great again"?

@will999: I was responding to your comment. How is God parting the Red Sea even remotely connected to Trump's campaign slogan?

There are MANY versions of the Bible online.
will999 · 70-79, M
@CrazyTheatreGal Okay then, which rendering of the Biblical version online shows clear relevance to Trump's campaign?
