Can someone explain Trump's slogan to me?

First of all, this is a genuine question, not just an excuse to rant at anyone who supports Trump. His supporters are entitled to their views...but would anyone please be willing to help me understand them?

First: Can someone please explain to me what people mean by "make America great again?" I mean, sure America has its problems, but it seems to me that compared to the rest of the world, America is still pretty great. So what exactly is it that makes Trump feel America isn't great?

2nd: When Trump says he's going to make America great AGAIN, to what point in history is he referring? When does he think America was great, and what about that time made it so much better than he thinks it is now?

look i think it was a great bit of writing by alan sorkin but that speeh will not make america great again. that was not his point. he was writing the first episode about a fictional news show and gave the lead a great speech. that is all it was. it s a work of fiction,nothing more.
