And who told you all that?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@JP1119 OP thinks a background in business makes them an economist by osmosis.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow In what way is osmosis comparable to my business? Would you rather say I don't understand money WHATSOEVER?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@lynncelestial You clearly don't understand that business and economics are separate fields.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow So, I don't understand money whatsoever, not at all?
JP1119 · 36-40, M
@lynncelestial You understand business, how to make a profit for the bottom line. That doesn’t mean you know what’s good for poor people, let alone an economy.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@lynncelestial 🤦♂️ Another strawman.
Perhaps another example to make it clear. I can write computer code. That doesn't magically mean I am qualified to design the next CPU for Intel.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Okay, I'll ask you a question, a question, not a "strawman". Do you think I don't understand money at all? I'm not stating that you do, I'm asking if you think that.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@lynncelestial It is completely irrelevant. Understanding money doesn't magically make you an economist. The fact you don't understand that proves you don't know what economics is.
JP1119 · 36-40, M
@lynncelestial Did you read my previous comment? I came at it from a different angle, and I think it might help clear some of this up for you.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@JP1119 Sorry, I'm not interested in having anything "cleared up". I have absolutely no misunderstanding discussing things and making deals and committing trades in person. But as soon as I come onto sites like these, where people can hide behind their anonymity, they turn into something else. If you know your stuff, then I hope you do well in whatever you do. And I'll stick to what I do. As I said, I get no issues like this when I do things in the real world.
JP1119 · 36-40, M
@lynncelestial If you’re not interested in having anything cleared up, then why do you keep asking @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow the same dumb question over and over? I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that since you say you’ve successfully run your business that you know how to run a business. All I’m saying is that doesn’t qualify you to tell the average poor American whether or not a tax break for the wealthy is good for her or to chair the Federal Reserve. You know what to do for you, but that doesn’t mean you know what’s best for everyone.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@JP1119 I never said I did know what's best for everyone. Hence I said I hope you do well with whatever you do. And no, I don't know how to run the economy, and I don't actually think anyone does, I think socialism should stop trying to force the market to work in a certain way and allow people to use their resources as they see fit, hence the less taxes post. I don't know how to use your money, neither does anyone else, so I don't think that me nor anyone else should have your money. Unless you voluntarily give me your money for a service I provide, I don't want anything to do with your money.
That should be pretty clear. People should control their own money.

@lynncelestial
I see people complain that tax cuts only help the rich
They also seem to forget that the rich don’t pay tax anyway
The above quotes that started your post sounded like you thought you knew what was best for everyone. Fwiw, I agree that people should control their own money, except to the extent that maybe they owe some of their paycheck back to the system that made it possible for them to earn that paycheck in the first place.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@JP1119 No I dont no one does, small government for the win, see we find points where we agree once you make an effort to understand my side. this is what I'm saying about the internet, people take the most worst assumption about what the other person means, and argue against that assumption. Literally 99% of responses I've had are negative assumptions and then nasty belittling of my knowledge to try to fit into that assumption and make themselves feel superior. I'm absolutely sick of it. Even if I go out of my way to be polite. Or if I state something absolutely objectively factual. Someone will pop up calling me an idiot. I can have an absolutely normal conversation in person and I end up mixing with very successful people. Yet as soon as people get behind a pc, they turn into something else. Even with people I know in person, I don't even use Facebook much anymore, even when people have their real identity linked to their account, they act in very similar dismissive, mocking tones.
