Don鈥檛 worry about it. Japan did not have the industrial capability to compete militarily with the United States in the long run. They were hoping for a series of quick victories leading to a negotiated peace settlement.

@ScottR Yes, that was definitely Japan's strategy. They underestimated America's anger over Pearl Harbour and determination to get an outright victory. Germany was clearly a greater military power, though it was the USSR that destroyed most of her army.
