What happens at the electoral college vote in December?

I'm not sure, some people are saying that if you live in a state that voted for Trump to start writing letters now before the Dec 19 electoral college vote

okay will they scarp the earlier electoral votes or they will vote for Hillary those who r left?

@Manganesia: Hillary supporters are posting it so I guess they are hoping they vote for her, I'm a bit confused by the whole process, I'm not sure what it would change if that happened.
