People Don't Seem To Understand that Hillary Won the Popular vote

60,467,000+ people voted for Hillary and 60,071,000+ people voted for Trump. If the elections were based on actual individual ballots cast, then Hillary would be president. So, please stop saying most people voted for Trump, because it is inaccurate. He won the electoral vote, meaning he gained the most number of points through the states in that system, which is what decides the president.

The same thing happened with Bush/Gore. It's interesting how many people don't seem to understand their own country's voting system...

It's easy to understand (I agree with your post pointing out many don't seem to understand it)

Whoever gets the majority vote in each state... then ALL the electoral votes go towards the person for the entire state for that person. Hilary did get more popular votes, but, the states that Trump won resulted in those states having more electoral votes put in for him

And the amount of electoral votes that each state gets is solely based on the population of that state. thats why candidates tend to campaign in more populated states. and thats also the reason we conduct a census every ten years, because the population will change over time, hence, affecting the amount of electoral votes that that state gets for elections

Except for 2 states which split.

Exactly. I was only meaning to highlight that when people say that "most or more people voted for Trump", it's actually not true.
