Unpopular opinion: women shouldn't be in the military

If you have ever been through selection or know someone who has, you know that the selection criteria has nothing to do with killing the enemy. It is only about hiding from the rest of the military. @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

I posted it because until the OP can do this with distinction they have no business calling anyone weak or unqualified. My guess is the OP couldn't carry a 50 kilo ruck from the couch to the fridge let alone a long march.

You are probably correcti. BTW - I didn't say anything about hiding behind the infantry. that is sexist just like the rest of this post. I said it was hiding behind the military. I work directly with the special operations type of guys and I can tell you that I have closed with and killed more enimy soldiers than any of the SOF bubbas I know. That doesn't even address the 11 bang bangs. @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

@rhouse I am well aware that Special Ops is not a rambo movie. I worked for a security company that is majority former and reserve military, police, and spooks (commissionaires). Met a few guys in those roles and literally none of them fit the stereotype.

Your comment about hiding behind the military came off as condescending is all. If you mean their job is to cause chaos literally behind the lines of an army then yeah that makes sense. No matter how good you are a small unit picking a fight with an entire battalion is a bad idea. That being said I remember an interview with a vet from the Devil's Brigade mentioning there was a reason they were issue a dagger which is only useful for stabbing someone whereas everyone else got a survival knife.

Although I suppose it also depends on your job on the team too I suppose. In the past female snipers have been terrifyingly effective and I know some of the women in this unit apparently get into that side of things too.

But again I think it is disrespectful for armchair machos to denigrate the efforts of good soldiers because they happen to have a vagina.

@rhouse I am really baffled as to why you think I am trying to misrepresent a military selection process. I am not. I posted it simply to point out that if the OP can't hack it themselves they should STFU. I never claimed to be an expert on anything. I am a former base brat and worked with people who did this kind of work so I know a bit second hand but I never claimed otherwise.

Or if that is too much for some people there are also the YPJ who have sent ISIS running with their tails between their legs. Another group of women warriors who are not weak or inferior as the OP implies.

If I misunderstand you, I appologige. I think the part that set me off what the "Come talk when you can pass their selection". That is designed to keep women out of the special forces and by extension the military. I am very closely related to both. I am male but absolutely know that there have been times that females kept me alive when I was an operator. @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

I only said that to me "until he can do what they need to do just to get in" he has no business telling them he is more qualified because he has a dick. lol I feel the same about guys who don't do shit tell people like my cousin women should not be in Emergency Services because they don't fit the fire fighter calendar stereotype.

@rhouse Bottom line. I think anyone who can't pass the entrance exam for any job has no business telling women who actually do the job they have no business being there.

@rhouse And I do get what you mean about selection processes being used to keep women out. There was a court case in BC, Canada where a woman fire fighter successfully proved they had stacked the PT requirement not for the qualifications required for the job but to increase the likelihood women would fail. And when she failed to re-qualify and the case came up she had already been doing the job for several years at that point. So yeah I can see how that can be a problem too.

Gender is irrelevant.
