Are you saying he promised $2K monthly checks, and $50K in debt cancellation?
Peapod · 61-69, F
@Northwest He hasn't ever said he wants 50K in debt cancellation. He is against it and has clearly said so. He does want to make community college free so every student has a chance at getting an education. I think he is also looking for ways to make state universities available to anyone that wants to go on and further their education, going by household incomes.

@Peapod Yes, I am trying to understand where some people think this is what President Biden promised. The plan is to insure the right kind of education is available to everyone. So, if you want to study basket weaving, that's cool, but you're not getting a $100K loan to get a basket weaving degree at College of the Entitled.
We need to reform our education system, and the best proposal that makes sense, is to separate out the lower level classes into a post high school program, followed by a specialization or trade school either post high school, or post 10th grade.

@Northwest why are you acting like biden is the only democrat? And like the only person in his admin? These people we talking about Medicare for all (kamala) and student loan forgiveness. Now they have office and they’re hemming and hawing over a single $1,400 relief check to go out to a completely shattered country. You people are so blind

Who promised $50K debt forgiveness? and more importantly, this: Bidens admin weaseling out of every campaign promise

Changing topics again? Haven't you heard? The policy changed to releasing non-violent asylum seekers into the US and family unification. In case you missed it, a path to citizenship bill is also now making it you through Congress.
Any other detours you'd like to take?
Those ICE facilities still open?

I don't support a blank $50K for everyone. I support the Democrats longer term educational reform plan.
I can do basic arithmetic: $600 + $1,400 = $2,000.
I support a national $15 per hour minimum wage, and the primary reason is that it will create a more equitable national labor market, preventing companies from exploiting certain labor markets, and contributing to income inequality. This may backfire, but we have to try.
I think our immigration laws need reform and I think the Biden administration plan is the right start. I don't believe we need Trump's wall, technology offers better solutions.
I think the world is an ugly place, and as we work toward a better existence, we have to work with some nations whose leaders you would normally would not want to shake hands with. During the Biden term, I support the administration's push to minimize damage, and I believe the right person, our Sec. of State is the right person to lead the effort and help us pick the most favorable of nothing bad bad situations.
just trying to see where your at on this.
