California has climate change related wildfires like every 8 months and republicans dunked on it mercilessly for power outage issues

Texas has *one* climate change related snowstorm and their entire infrastructure is destroyed rendering its citizens basically without power and water and trapped in igloos for days.

I've said this a million times but climate change is coming for those republican states too.

Noah - eco-nerds refused to let the forests in California be properly managed. As a result, the forests are tinder boxes. Let's also not forget that if it weren't for California importing water from nearby states - it would return to it's natural desert condition.

Eco-nerd also refuse nuclear power. Gotta have wind power. Which is great until it's gets chilly - then the windmills freeze.

I think the climate is changing. It has been changing ever since there has been climate.
The key is to be smart and adapt.

* Remove kindling dead wood from forests.
* Don't over populate areas, there by further stressing the resources.
* Be smarter, think ahead. It's not the first time it got cold in Texas. Don't assume it will never happen again. In fact, either fill in New Orleans, or tell everyone to leave. It WILL flood again.

@Budwick Yeah, Fair enough, Forest management could certainly help mitigate some of the fires to a degree but the bulk of the issue is the drying climate which turns the living trees into kindling. But its simply untrue that california is a desert state and always was one. Its higher rainfall and milder temps place it in the Mediterranean climate zone. Places like Madrid or Rome.

As for the windmills freezing issue, the windmills that froze in texas did so because they were not designed for such cold temperatures. There are windmills that exist and function in much colder temperatures such as the ones in Antarctica. It would of course require some engineering to design a windmill for texas with its now whiplash inducing weathers but it is certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Despite the windmills freezing over the operational ones still overproduced and exceed their expected energy output (graph below citation ERCOT), the windmills that are functioning are overproducing and making up for the ones that failed.

Youre right though that a massive infrastructure overhaul will need to happen to prepare communities for extreme weather conditions otherwise these disasters it will keep happening.
