There used to br official federal holidays of Washington's and Lincoln's holiday. In school we learned about their virtues and genius, their strong convictions and life's meanings.

This was taken away by the time I graduated from school. The powers that be, and Nixon or Carter I don't recall which, objected to all presidents not being made equal.

And so it was made presidents day.

The best presidents are never honored in their time.
