Here's a logical approach: regulate cars like guns.
You need to go for training, write a test and pass to get your license.
Once you get the gun, it needs to be registered.
If you have a history of reckless behaviour or you do not meet the physical or mental requirements to own a gun, you shouldn't have one.
With that being said I'm against all this nonsense of banning "assault weapons". Better sights or pistol grips don't make a rifle more dangerous. Most guns including pistols are semi-automatic. Actual assault rifle that are fully automatic or selective fire have been banned for civilian use in the US since the 80s.
I hate that the left is associated with banning guns. I'm a far left Anarchist, and myself and Marxists are AGAINST disarming the working class and only arming the police. With police's wanton abuse of minorities, particularly black people, I definitely don't think they should be the only ones with guns.
