@Freeranger When someone is elected because of promises they made to be harsher towards brown-skinned immigrants, and their fan base believes every single word out of their mouth, it's safe to make the connection that racism being encouraged/normalized by this powerful public figure is a real thing.

Trump is/was no different than any other republican in terms of policy. The only difference is he didn't know the traditional talking points, and he didn't care to use dog-whistle terms for racist ideologies. He said the quiet part out loud, so to speak. That encouraged others to do the same and radicalized the existing racists even further.

And as a Hispanic American myself, this is not an isolated incident.

You know what everyone hated about Trump? He was unabashedly pro-American. It scared the SHIT out of the career politicians on both sides of the aisle primarily because, he was not one of them, and pandered to neither aisle.
So, plus ten for that alone. Imagine that, a non-Washington insider who was trying to shrink government control vs. those who's every intent was to sit on their ass in Congress for DECADES and siphon up every financial advantage [which is ongoing as I type] that they could. Ever wonder why so many of them leave so financially endowed and solvent?
