His district is in California, but he was in Florida on Wednesday for fundraising. He's getting nervous because the bulk of his corporate donations just dried up as the corporate establishment cut off all the House members who voted to redo the election in some states.
He requested a meeting with Trump, and that's going to happen on Thursday.
He's calculating that if Trump supports him, he can rely on the Trump voters for donations, when the GOP relies traditionally on corporate donors for the big $s.
So, will this happen as an internal GOP move? as in Trump is still part of the GOP, or will he sign on as Trump's Party's candidate?
Whatever the case may be, it gives Trump an opportunity to keep them all in suspense, and guarantee an acquittal next month.
