I Think If Were Trump, I Would Skip The Impeachment Trial

Showing up only tends to legitimize the sham trial.

If you were trump you would skip the trial? If subpoenaed, he doesnt have the right any longer to ignore it. His presidential immunity no longer protects him.
But, if he had that choice, a good attorney would certainly advise him against appearing. Trump has a history of not being honest in depositions, I feel certain he would have the same trouble at a Senate hearing.

@Carla Subpoenaed by congress?

he doesnt have the right any longer to ignore it.

Congress these days is where rights go to die.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Budwick you know full well that the case will heard in front of the Senate. And yes, subpoenaed.

Please explain what rights congress has killed. I will patiently await your response🙄

@Carla Start with Impeachment I & II
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Budwick Predictably, you have nothing.

@RogueLoner there is a history of non presidential impeachments. It's a thing.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Budwick there is nothing in an impeachment that snuffs out rights.
And what @QuixoticSoul said.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carla
there is nothing in an impeachment that snuffs out rights.

In THESE impeachments there is!

@RogueLoner well...if a president does something egregious enough to be impeached, he isnt absolved of that because he is no longer acting president. Ex potus' still have security clearances, security staff, presidential retirement salary, travel expenses., etc. If nothing else, If convicted in the Senate, he would no longer be eligible for any public office. We know this is the end game in all of this. He wont suffer any other penalty.
Well, for these offenses.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Budwick what rights?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carla Whats all the stuff you're supposed to get with a fair trial?
Representation, see the evidence, cross examine, the works.

@RogueLoner no. If he did bad things as potus, he should be penalized for it. Regardless if he is still potus or not.. Now if they started the impeachment process after he was out of office, I would then agree with you.😉😉
Carla · 61-69, F
@Budwick if you are speaking of impeachment #1, trump was represented, could have called witnesses and provided evidense.
Trump & co refused to cooperate, so there is that.
Impeachment #2? He has attorneys, access to evidence (shit, his call to georgia was recorded and his inciteful speach on video) so there is no repression there either.
Trump isnt the victim here bud. Neither are you.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carla That is all bullshit.
Stop lying.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Budwick She's completely correct.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul You are both overcome with Trump Withdrawal.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Budwick She's completely correct.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Budwick no your brain is impregnated with fox, oan, newsmax, whatever, news that only told you what the trump heads wanted you to hear.
But you keep living in that bubble. It might be scary for you in the real world.

@RogueLoner but impeachment happened before he left.
The trial is the thing. You cant say he isnt responsible for wrongdoing because he left office. That would leave the country open to damage by any loony tunes president, at the end of his/her term.
There is precedent for this.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carla
but impeachment happened before he left.

Without an ounce of Due Process.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Budwick due process? You arent this dense, bud. He wasn't arrested. A grand jury can indict after never hearing from the accused.
He will have plenty of opportunity to present a
defense.
