Freedom of Speech is gone in America

Prepare for Communism. WE saw it when Twitter and Facebook limited our speech. WE saw it when they deleted President Trump and now they are onto us again.

I am a supporter of President Trump. I saw the warnings that people were being booted from Youtube, Twitter and Facebook along with other sites. I followed along and saw that many accounts were posting memes in order to get around the bots that these sites were putting up. People on these sites were also planning on putting up duplicate profiles to go around the ban.

Remember that Jack Dorsey and dumbass Mark Zuckerberg said they were NOT censoring or banning differences of opinion. bull crap.

Around election time, I posted my thoughts on Facebook in a few posts-nothing incendiary. During inauguration, I posted my thoughts about the election results. I was immediately in jail. I sent a link to a website to a friend in messenger and was banned. First the email said until Jan 23rd then indefinitely and now I am banned until Jan 23rd.

I can remove friends, unfollow people and view and that is all I can do. Last night, I found jewelry at our mailboxes and I was unable to contact anyone on messenger or post on the HOA group about the jewelry and where they can find it.

If you think this is right, you are delusional. I have removed my profile from Twitter, Apple removed the platform Parler and I will be posting less on Facebook

We are in serious times.

Should the government protect you from "corporate fascism" like it does in Communist countries?

We disagree on lots of things, but I really don't see this as Communism as much as a symptom of the difficulties we're facing with corporations becoming increasingly more relevant politically than either governments or human beings.

Today, its shunning Conservative businesses and restricting their freedom to use platforms run by private businesses, but liberals and some Conservatives have issues with Citizens United, Dark money, and how to fix these problems is troublesome for just about everyone, including even the folks who run social media and seem to want regulation at times to protect themselves and their products.

@MistyCee thankyou mistycee. i guess my point is i should have freedom of speech and not be censored by anyone for my point of view. regardless, they make money from us. it needs to be stopped. what isthat law that allows social media to be sued? 203?
TexChik · F
@MistyCee their call to censor and silence all conservatives is communism . When they start trying to enforce that is when it gets real
@akindheart Mostly, 203 protects them from getting sued for what you put up there.

If you just take it away, you'd be opening them up to suits by victims of incited violence.

My guess is what you're looking for, or at least thinking about is extending the First Amendment to private sites on the internet, which raises a whole bunch of constitutional issues, and is really more of a Communist/socialist thing then a traditional small government don't interfere with business thing.

The other problem is, the old farts in politics (both sides) are pretty ignorant about technology.

This stuff really is, IMO, complicated and simple solutions can be worse than complex compromises that seem to benefit one side, but bite them in the butt in other ways.

Imo, It's mostly a balancing of Rights issues between consumers and business, humans and corporations, and government regulation can be advantageous or disadvantageous, as can lack of regulation.

I don't pretend to know the "right answers" but it seems easy to for people to be sorry they got what they asked for here.
@TexChik Private companies censoring citizens is Communism?

And the government taking over those companies to prevent censorship wouldn't be Communistic?
TexChik · F
@MistyCee the calls are from elected socialists and radicals . Your goddess AOC is demanding it
@TexChik She's not my Goddess, and as I replied to the OP, this is a bigger and more complicated issue then just free speech.

Ironically, she along with younger folks on the other side like Gaetz for example, are more likely to see some issues at stake me clearly than the old guys. Grassley, I think it was, in the tech hearings looked like he was trying to understand Greek.

Seriously, OP has legitimate issues, but there are other equities that weigh in and should be considered, IMO, before finding a knee jerk solution that could be worse than the problem.

We had some pretty good posts here way back on this, as I recall, but the politics involved were less heated.

@MistyCee Mister C - really, how do you do it? Four paragraphs and not a single complete thought expressed except 'she's not your Goddess'.
TexChik · F
@Budwick deny and deflect . Socialists are into that
@Budwick LOL, maybe I need a better deity to worship and tell me how to think and express myself.

Seriously, you've got a point, but I was on my phone and didn't want to retype all of the stuff I'd posted to OP on this same thread to @TexChik again (Let alone possibly contradict myself when I did it).

@MistyCee corporate fascism ? Only happens with socialist owned corps who heavily contribute to their puppets in congress
@TexChik I put it in quotes for a reason after seeing it used by someone complaining about conservative censorship. Corporate fascism really doesn't make much sense to me, but it seems less paradoxical than corporate communism, IMO, at least.

Socialist owned corps, I'm really dubious about, but I'm tired of my head hurting from Trumpist newspeak now.
