Tips should be considered personal gifts wich are tax free up to 10,000 per year per person.

They should at least earn the minimum hourly wage.

If they're not an effective sales person, they can always be let go.

Commissions are paid incentives.. so they are taxable..
The irs says that i can give a tax free gift of up to ten thousand dollars each year to anyone i like..
My tip is a gift from me to the server and so it should be tax free

@SW-User Tips are not "gifts" or at least they weren't when American's still had a decent work ethic. TIP: [b]T[/b]o [b]I[/b]nsure [b]P[/b]romptness. I've always thought it insane to TAX commission at such ridiculously high, flat rates

That's there because the IRS taxes tips at a minimum amount. Even if they aren't give!
