Tips are income so they have to be taxed.

@beckyromero yes I do, why stop at just tips, fight for no taxes at all. Do everyone a solid.

Tips should not be considered income. They are generally not required for getting service. Therefore, they should be reclassified as a gift under income tax law.
Increasing the minimum wage for workers who receive tips will INCREASE their income and REDUCE their reliance on government assistance.

@beckyromero so a bonus should be considered a gift ?
What about minimum wage for people who dont receive tips? I'd be more inclined to give them more money.

A bonus tied to job performance or guaranteed by employment would be income.
A tip is not guaranteed and the person giving it should be able to say it's a gift.
I'd like to see a $15 minimum wage established for ALL workers in the U.S., regardless of the size of their employer.

@beckyromero a bonus is like a tip or a commission, nothing is guaranteed. $15 isnt enough to survive on. After taxes and everything else you'd be lucky to clear $400 a week.

That's double what it is now. And states near that will see pressure to raise their own. States can have a higher rate than the national minimum.
