Money, Politics and Democracy. Your thoughts?

I continue to be shocked at the amount of money that's involved in USA politics. It borders on the obscene to me.
"Money talks" it seems and without it ... what?

Yes, PAC's and Lobbyists have taken over this Nation and everything is now geared towards enriching their shareholders, on both sides, toss in some religious wingnuts, a bunch of white supremacists and you have what we have now, as close to anarchy as we've been for 150 years...

@spjennifer And yet you still claim to be the greatest country on earth with the best political system. *sigh

Thank goodness I'm an Australian but please remember that what your country does affects the whole world. You used to be a reliable ally but that has been destroyed due to the ego of one man. I hope that relationship can be restored but try to understand our reservation. Trust has been destroyed and has to be rebuilt, not by words but by action.

I wish your new President-Elect and every Cabinet member my sincerest best wishes. His empthathy is palpable, his intentions sincere and I don't care what party he belongs to: he comes across as honest and dedicated and I wish him every sucess.

I never claimed that, understand you mean us as a Nation but I do believe that we can be, the basic premise of any great Democracy is the ability to accept change and should be an ever evolving Democracy. No great Civilization is ever perfect and America certainly isn't. Other great Nations have had spurious leaders for a time and so did we, now it's time to heal, heal our own tensions and forge new and stronger relationships with our allies, let not the abject folly of the last 4 years taint what has been a longstanding friendship... Let's give President Biden the chance to effect change.
