Next Election

Storming castles aside, hopefully the next United State election has more meaning. I want the ability to say or ask, "I wonder which one is best for our situation. Who can I vote for". As an independent voter, America does not need to be first (inventions, space, immunizations), but America can be the main focal point for our government.

I wish we could join both main parties along with some other third parties. Progression can be a topic for debate, with security, finances and good morals. Society can do its part also, outside voting. Don't always rely on every other entity.

Essentially, the whole part of being proud of your country is because of what that country stands for, what it has done for you and others and then what it has done for the world; inclusive rather than exclusive, y'know?

@SammyJo Quite true. But the values that drive today and Tomorrow need to be protected and kept safe. Things change. The Republicans were the anti Slavery party of Lincoln, back in the day.. Thats not a comment on politics, so much as a note on change..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I believe that I have read conflicting reports on Abe Lincoln and the whole Anti-Slavery movement; effectively he changed his views due to populist votes I seem to recall....

@openwater In the UK we have the two main parties - The Conservatives and Labour. I have more swung one way the the other but have also looked - and voted - for other parties, such as the Liberal Party and the Green Party.

Not all parties 'fit' the voter 100% - you go with the party which you feel fits the best on the topics that are dear to you....

This has been the most meaningful election of my life tbh - we got to eject a completely unsuitable dumpster fire.
openwater · 46-50, M
Good point, although I would rather have a voting technique that did not involve voting just to remove someone, but to look at the future.@QuixoticSoul

@openwater When life gives you lemons 🤷‍♂️

That last event was definitely tart.@QuixoticSoul

There will never be any kind of unity so long as democrats keep spewing forth candidates that contradict truly American ideals; loss of liberty under the pretense of more security only leads to more tyranny and corruption, and corrupt government always leads to the same inevitable conclusion (as it has so many times throughout history), collapse...

government has too many idealists, and not enough realists; there will never be complete equality in society; not all problems have a perfect, working solution
openwater · 46-50, M
Very true. Ideas can be good though, if they can be realistically implemented the best way possible. Everything we have in this country and the next, started off as an idea. Agree with the democrats comment, but republicans are about a monopoly. Monopolies can restrict society to keep their heads just above the water. The leveling off of topics, including security can be implemented realistically.@wildbill83

Next election?? As if the commies will allow you anything.
openwater · 46-50, M
I honestly hope so. I am independent, but like half of the things on both of the main parties. We do not need extremism. Hatred has no place in politics, concerns maybe, but not hatred.@KaraLuvz

@curiosi What commies???
openwater · 46-50, M
Lobbyists and electoral college might be a better term, but as long as the voting process is there regardless of the backstage antics. Civility can be a part of any election process.@curiosi

All voters should decide who to vote for that way.. And the answer will not always be the same...😷
openwater · 46-50, M
Having a sense of civility and doing what you can. Each candidate has great points, and go accordingly.@whowasthatmaskedman
