Incoming Republican Congresswoman From Illinois Proclaims "Hitler Was Right!"

New Illinois Representative Mary Miller has apologized for comments she made on Tuesday

Miller earlier announced she was joining with other Republicans in objecting to Congress certifying the election of Joe Biden, who beat President Donald Trump in the popular and electoral votes.

At the rally, Miller, said, “Each generation has the responsibility to teach the next generation. You know, if we win a few elections we’re still going to be losing unless we win the hearts of our children. It’s the battle. Hitler was right on one thing that whoever has the youth has the future. Our children are being propagandized.”

Little late for an apology now, don't you think?

( She grew up just a few miles from where I did! 😲 )

If I Sound More Ticked Off About Trump Tonight Than Normal, It's Because Jan. 6th Brings Back Horrible Memories

The GOP is the metaphorical landfill of the country. It has absorbed all the vices of our society. The Nazis, white supremists, evangelicals, etc... And they brought in all their hate with them. Oh course Republicans out in the country feel attacked and marginalized. Technically they are because the GOP is a collection of all these fringe hate groups. Nobody else wants them. But the garbage is starting to overflow. That's how they end up becoming a majority in the government. Trump at least has helped destroy part of the GOP. So maybe that will clean the swamp a little.

There were a lot of good men and women in the Republican Party.

But all that is needed for evil to triumph is when good men and women do nothing.
@beckyromero Many of the good ones have left. Which makes the remaining party even more concentrated in evil. There is little good to dilute it anymore. But you are right. There are good Republicans. I respect the original republicans cause they actually stood for civil rights. I respect the Lincoln Project Republicans. And Mitt Romney as he is the only one that had balls to stand up to a cult leader.

I voted for Romney.

His second term would just be ending now if he had won in 2012.

The funny thing is that in most cases this would end someone's career but in her case it might even get her more support
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@EuphoricTurtle You are right. A sad indictment of America today..😷
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@whowasthatmaskedman it's terrifying that something like this can happen to the country that has been the shinning beacon of Democracy in this world.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@EuphoricTurtle I think it demonstrates how far America has strayed from its ideals. Two forces are at work here. The first being the balance between people being afraid of their government, rather than governments being afraid of their people (Which they really should be) It is that fear which SHOULD make the Govt vigilant in always acting FOR the people, which America government clearly no longer does unless you have money and influence. Trump enabled this.. Trump incited this.. But Trump didnt create the problems. He just took advantage of them.😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
It doesnt matter how correct she was. (And she was) Trumps actions and words over the last 4 years have Hitler front of mind in a lot of people. What she did was politically incorrect in the extreme. But just plain STUPID..😷
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Pretzel

As you may know, I tagged Trump with the Il Duce nickname years ago.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@beckyromero nope, I missed that

google searches are creepy

beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Pretzel

And his rally this week made me think of Mussolini's "March on Rome" in the 1920s.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
she could have left out the attribution to hitler and been okay

it's true - you get the hearts and minds of young people and you set up the future.

it was stupid to use hitler's name ...period.

all people hear is the name and go deaf to anything after it
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@gfantasy
Seems that stupidity is the main trait of these people...

I'm thinking more of the word "Fascism."
gfantasy · 56-60, M
@beckyromero @beckyromero Anyone who in this time an age longs for fascism is downright stupid. In the 1920s, 1930s, sure, people didn't know better, but after seeing how much prosperity democracy has brought not only to the USA but also Germany and Japan, anyone has to be superbly dimwitted to wish for fascism...
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@gfantasy

I have no idea what you mean by "downright stupid."
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
She’s absolutely correct about how and who are presently indoctrinating out children at our expense. They should be taught to learn how to think and actual that will help them understand the past and be prepared fir the future. That isn’t what is currently happening.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@jackjjackson

I may disagree with what and how our schools are teaching our children.

But that's a far cry from exclaiming, "Hitler was right!"
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Any potentially favorable comment regarding Hitler is reprehensible. @beckyromero
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
She's clearly a very ignorant woman!
