Got it done

OK, so Boris didnt do it all himself, but the "Wild man at Nr 10" held his nerve and "got it done".
Now, he and I, are going to get the learned critics who will expand and try to destroy what I have said.
To be honest, I just think he was at the helm of the greatest deal in British history, whatever anyone says. I take my hat off to him.

He has 'got Brexit done' but to what end?

The UK is not heading for a no-deal apocalypse but has lost the advantages of staying in the EU but with no gain.

@Burnley123 what about immigration?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Human1000 Freedom of movement is now restricted. I don't consider this an advantage but it does at least honor the will of a lot of Brexit voters. The deal is basically what Theresa May struck a year ago and got loudly rejected by almost everyone. However, Brits are so bored of the whole thing that they will accept any deal now, including this.

It's bad for Britain's interests but it at least means we don't have a no-deal meltdown.

@Burnley123 immigration control seemed to be the one thing that Brexit had to have to be “Brexit.”
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Human1000 Yes. The hardest Brexiteers won't be happy because it still has some regulatory alignment but as I say, most people have just had enough and want to move on. I support free movement and ending it benefits nobody IMO but this is democracy. The deal basically means minor economic damage for some immigration control instead of a hard break. It mid-way between a hard Brexit and a soft Brexit. This helps British people not one bit but at this stage, I'm just relieved we don't crash out with no deal. The UK govt has been clever at 'managing expectations.'.

As I say, it's very ironic but Boris johnson and a huge section of the Brexit coalition rejected a very similar deal a year ago when May was PM. Its strange how things have changed.

@Burnley123 What an enormous waste of time and energy. Sound and furry signifying nothing...
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Human1000 LOL. I can't disagree.

@Burnley123 What I am talking about is, on 24th December 2020 we were faced with a "no deal" exit from the EU, people were getting downbeat about the whole thing. Cameron didnt do it, nor did May, but Boris held his nerve to get the best deal we could. THAT IS WHY I TAKE MY HAT OFF TO HIM.
I also mention that the masterminds who could do the job in their sleep may try to belittle the achievement, which is what is happening, and that is why the first comments received were deleted.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL - Covid aside, lets try and lighten up a little.

Uncfred · 61-69, M
@Burnley123 But it was quashed, rightly or wrongly, and we made no advancement since.
