Is the European Union a failure or still evolving?

I think the UK might be a failure...if this is what gives Scotland the impetus to become independent, the Continental financial businesses flee the country they had moved to over the past decade or so, etc.

@Driver2 Germany is one of my favourite countries to visit. It has its faults, but it's people are hospitable on the whole and my family have made good friends with people there. Despite its history it is liberal in outlook these days. It has, like the UK, a worrying rise in ultra nationalists, but they seem to be in check.

The Germans are more aware of the dangers so are better able to keep it in check.
