Person a: so and so politician said x which is why I don’t like him
Person b: I like him, you took that out or context, provide the original context
Person a: *provides a longer video giving context*
Person b:’...I don’t have the time to watch that, and I just know it isn’t true without watching it!’

I’ve been person A many times

Lol I've had it where a person makes a claim, provides no evidence of it, and tells others to find the evidence for themselves.

@deadgerbil i like genuine debate so often play Devils advocate and say thunder I don’t believe, and the amount of times I’ve had in response ‘I know exactly your type, you stupid Trump supporter!’ To the slightest comment on Biden or the election xD

People just have this strawman ready to throw up at the slightest sign of disagreement.

@seeandhear What came to my mind specially is this guy on here who insists that Trump's typo, 'cofvefe', is actually a word from Yiddish folklore and not an actual typo, providing no evidence of that being the case. I tried to find evidence of it and only came up with an urban dictionary entry, which is to say it's nonsense lol.

A lot of other people act like this too, namely anyone who's going on about voter fraud.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@lynncelestial yeah, genuine debate can be hard to come by in politics lol. It devolves very fast
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@deadgerbil I see, but who gives a crap if Trump made a typo? That’s literally the go to if you cannot otherwise refute a person’s claim.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@lynncelestial the person's claim was that it wasn't a typo.

I never really cared about the typo prior, but this guy was insulting others and insisting it was an actual word. As such, it will be used to demonstrate his idiocy and undermine his credibility.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@deadgerbil I shall conclude that all three of you are stupid.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@lynncelestial so let's get this straight:

If person A is saying objectively incorrect information, it should have no impact on their credibility? They can spread lies without consequence?

If that's the hill you want to die on, be my guest lmao.
lynncelestial · 31-35, F
@deadgerbil ah the internet, where you can say something and the next person will create a ridiculous strawman that has nothing to do with what you said and then ridicules the strawman for being stupid, despite being the moron who created it. Enough internet for me. Real, normal life instead . Night
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@lynncelestial Zeroing in on instances where it's absolutely unambiguous that they were in the wrong is completely fine. It helps to paint a picture of what your arguing against.

It's hardly ridiculous when it's representative of a person's habit of lying and spreading misinformation.

Instead of straddling the fence and entertaining people's nonsense, just say you have no respect for credibility lol night.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@deadgerbil Why I have this feeling I might've possibly interacted too with this person, lol
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@Elessar lol I can see the similarities. People like this are irritating. They act like they are above every one else and want to play both sides, yet they have no consideration for when their ideas are taken to their logical ends.

In this case, she's defending people who have no credibility and spread misinformation. Maybe she'll say she was just playing devil's advocate lol

@deadgerbil
Lol I've had it where a person makes a claim, provides no evidence of it, and tells others to find the evidence for themselves.

Now who could that possibly be? 🤔 A Canadian troll, perhaps?
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@Frank52 yup lol
