Putin hates hillary's guts. He comes up for reelection in 18months and it's gonna be payback time if hillary is president.
I am surprised how many people have bought into this WWIII crap. All that's needed is economic sanctions. Thier GDP is slightly larger than the GDP of Mexico. It's just that Putin is playing Trump and all the folks who are buying into his posturing.

Absolutely it's not going to be smooth sailing. But russia and the Us will not be going to war with each other. They'll just keep doing what superpowers do and fight proxy wars through other embattled nations
