Is America still moving in a radical right direction?

Given the narrowness of the victory and the 'centrism' of the Biden campaign, it seems the case to me.

A landslide Biden win would have seen a GOP war on whether to stick with right populism. As it is, the Republicans are disincentivized to move away from the Trump legacy. I think the next Republican nominee will be the person closest to Trump and might even be the man himself if he stays out of jail.

It is too early to think about what might happen down the road, when Trump hasn't even conceded, and there could still be massive violence (I hope not). I will say that a politician like Ted Cruz is just as evil as Donald Trump, but is far more calculating and devious. He's already running for 2024.

The Democrats will have to come to grips with the fact that a significant portion of the US population has no problem whatsoever with racism and white supremacy, cruelty to immigrants, and autocratic leaders who lie to them. I want to see how Biden handles the job of president. I suspect he will do as good a job as possible given the circumstances.
