@hunkalove The U.S. government was entirely funded by sales taxes and tariffs on imported goods until 1913. There was no income tax until 1913, with the exception of a tax imposed during the Civil War.

@InkBot Trump has repeated expressed frustration with the limits of power imposed on the President by the Constitution ("That Constitution is a mess" Trump). I have never been more grateful for the U.S. system of checks and balances which frustrates a would-be dictator like Trump.

@InkBot The very wealthy in this country have all kinds of tax-dodging schemes, like off-shore tax havens, to skip out of their tax obligation. And Trump is the biggest hog at the trough.
