Can someone please explain why the USA waits until January 20th for the Inauguration of a new President?

@SW-User why in other countries though simply it's just done straight away? Does seem 2 months of inaction or this time dangerous action if he'd gone the morning after been a lot better possibly

@SW-User yes, well, it seems our 'traditions' were born of an earlier time when antiquated systems of travel were at play, and i guess people just don't like change. of course this year was a different circumstance with the pandemic going on, and voting taking much longer than normal, not to mention the record setting total vote count, but yes, it's a dangerous time when an outgoing president has powers he can level to cause mayhem and destruction, both imminently, and reaching into the immediate and far future. most presidents behave well, while the current one makes everyone nervous as hell. it's almost over, though, thank the powers that be.

@SW-User yes, malignant narcissists always bring great destruction. i'm continually amazed at how people with no conscience can sleep at night.
