Because it’s not democracy.
Nimbus · M
@MrBrownstone As simple as that?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Nimbus For me.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone Too bad that is factually incorrect.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Too bad you don’t understand facts
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone No. That would be you. Sean Hannity's latest brain fart is not a fact.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone You can have a free vote in a socialist state. Just like you can also have a capitalist country under a dictator.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@MrBrownstone bullshit. Research Rojava, Zapatistas and Anarchist Catalonia.
MarmeeMarch · M
@CountScrofula what's a free vote ?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone Actually it is far more democratic and you get to vote on more things. for example you get to vote in youru workplace which in capitalist countries are absolute dictatorships which is ironically where you spend the vast majority of your life and you have zero say in what goes on.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@MarmeeMarch Everyone of majority age can vote for who they want to and it will count.
Iceland is a somewhat socialist state and it has a free vote. Russia is a very capitalist state with a dictator. Cuba is a socialist state with a dictator.
There's lots of ways to do politics. It's not FREEDOM OR COMMUNISM.

@CountScrofula Although I have some issue with your example on the whole it is absolutely true that it is not one or the other.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow yeah I wouldn't call Iceland socialist. Its capitalist with a strong welfare state and government intervention in the economy.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@basilfawlty89 Something most people don't seem to understand is basically a conservative idea. See Otto Von Bismark.
Venezuela is also thrown around alot too. If "government does stuff" is the metric that would make France Marxist too. lol

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Venezuela is hardly socialist with the majority of its wealth (70% I believe) privately owned.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@basilfawlty89 That was my point. France has a larger public sector.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@basilfawlty89 Macron is also nominally a socialist but that never comes up.
