@MarmeeMarch No.. Actually American made cars didnt go downhill at all (individual models maybe.) What actually happened was the Japanese cars improved dramatically in quality and features and outcompeted America right out of the market and exported thier manufacturing to taiwan, korea and other Asian nations. American cars simply failed to keep up. China was late on the scene, prefering to focus on heavy industry at first.
Do a bit of Googling around Total Quality Management and maybe Just in Time inventory. You will find it helpful😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Well someone has to engineer those cars - and from what I am seeing coming out of Colleges that are products of Affirmative Action and High Schools that had to graduate these dumbells - I am not too confident.

@whowasthatmaskedman A car is a car - big deal. We had our hayday and we got too set in our ways , sitting fat and happy with unions protecting jobs that should have gone to someone else at the first sign of a strike. We were not going to bend to the Japanese because - again arrogance took over - Long story short - Detroit is a parking lot.
But I am not going to bash all American cars I love the older ones - the ones made out of steel ?

But let's call a spade a spade - our problems stem from a rainbow of issues. Your problems stem from a few within a sea surrounded place that for lack of a better word - a Civilized Wasteland. I am sure it is very nice there with the water and views - but that's where it ends. Your history - innovation and future are nothing but slag from countries that don't want it anymore. But if you are happy there - well, you have no choice. So good luck with your many bathrooms and stocked fridges lol what a claim to fame.

@MarmeeMarch I was in your place.. I gotta tell you . It really isnt that great. You should get out more. When other countries will let you in again maybe..😷 But I see your point. Americans are used to winning.. I think the problem emerged when somehow the idea that just being American entitled you to win. Thats never been how it works. You have to work to earn it. For a nation that represents 2% of the worlds economy, we bat well above our class. For the last 5 years your nation has had to print money and borrow just to tread water.
Now this is way off point and my post. So I am calling it closed. Dont waste my time.
