Should the U.S. still be considered a democracy at this point?

It sure doesn't feel like one

The US is a Republic.

What do you mean it doesnt feel like a Democracy?
@FreeSpirit1 A republic is an implementation of democracy so that is a meaningless distinction.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow it's me pointing out we are a republic and asking why they think it doesnt feel like a democracy.
@FreeSpirit1 One is merely a method of implementing the other so it is utterly meaningless as a distinction.

Democracy is a philosophy and a republic is a method of implementation of that philosophy.
@FreeSpirit1 I will grant you that a republic can be a method of implementing somewhat different approaches to government if we take Rome for example.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow why are you trying to educate me on what a republic is? The original poster said "Should the U.S. still be considered a democracy at this point?"
I pointed out it isnt considered a democracy and asked why they thought it wasn't. Do you think I'm not aware of how our republic operates?
@FreeSpirit1 Well you are saying a democratic republic is not a democracy which is a bit silly and implies a lack of understanding of what a republic is.

No absolute democracy has ever existed in human history so it is a meaningless comparison.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I said that? When?
@FreeSpirit1
I pointed out it isnt considered a democracy
Someone thinks they are overly educated and has esteem issues just trying to make you look bad. Just ignore them.@FreeSpirit1
@Hikingguy Actually it is about correctly pointing out a flawed and meaningless distinction.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow we are a Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic.
Which is a form of a Democracy.
Ok? We are not considered a democracy we are considered a Republic.
@FreeSpirit1 Why did you feel the need to contradict your first statement with the second.

A form of democracy or a democratic republic is a democracy. Nobody is comparing it to a hypothetical absolute democracy that has never existed.

@FreeSpirit1 You are considered both a (representative) democracy *and* a republic, guys. The ancient Republic of Venice was a non-democratic republic, if you want, but for sure not the U.S.
