The settlements and lack of civil rights for Palestinians turned this American Jew against Israel.

I can’t support an apartheid state any longer.

The two-state solution is dead. There's no way to create a viable Palestinian state at this point. I like President Rivlin's idea of a federation of self-governing cantons, similar to what Switzerland has. Unfortunately, no one has any idea what to do with Gaza, including the Palestinian Authority.

@LeopoldBloom It's more like three Cantons:

Pre 1967 Israel
West Bank
Gaza

I don't see why a 2-state solution cannot work, but the problem now is that Kushner/Trump have Bibi convinced he can impose whatever solution he wants.
@Northwest How would West Bank and Gaza be a single state? You’d need a bridge or tunnel to connect them, and that assumes Hamas and the PA could work together. Also, the problem isn’t just Netanyahu, it’s also Hamas that is committed to a Judenrein Middle East. Their charter calls for the death of every Jew in the world. They need to give that up and negotiate in good faith.

@LeopoldBloom It's a flat 30 mile run, the roads already exist. The problem is that the West Bank residents don't really want anything to do with Hamas. This is why I said it's more like three Cantons.
@Northwest That is Rivlin's proposal. There's no reason to force West Bank and Gaza to have a unified government. They never did in the past; in fact, until 1967 they were part of two separate countries, Jordan and Egypt.
