@Confined Dr. Fauci didn't give a date. He said we would have health challenges of both chronic and other diseases in the coming administration. Obama had and met those challenges. Bush had and met those challenges. Trump failed spectacularly in his handling of those challenges, and we are racing past 135,000 dead so far.

Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), warned members of the incoming Trump administration in January 2017 about the inevitability of a "surprise outbreak" of a new disease. He said at the time that the US needed to do more to prepare.

How would he know, unless he created it?

@Confined His past 49 years working with infectious diseases may have informed his thinking more than Trump's lifetime of lies. Of course we needed to prepare. Trump failed. Fauci said this right after Trump's team failed to pay attention during the transition planning. Fauci was involved in that and foresaw that Trump's failure to acknowledge the situation would lead to catastrophe if a pandemic occurred. And it has. Trump's failure is so complete that he couldn't have had a worse outcome if he had planned to do it.
