Ha...no. This is where we’re headed if he wins again. Complete with holocaust.

@bijouxbroussard Do you really think there are plans to exterminate a part of the population like insects.

@helenS Yes. I wouldn’t put it past him, whether it’s by deliberately pricing people out of healthcare availability or allowing more homeless people to die. This country has such a precedent. Eugenics began here.
@LvChris He was just recently speaking of turning the military on unarmed protesters.

@bijouxbroussard Dear bijouxbroussard, maybe Americans can't see the real horrors of fascism. The Nazis conquered cities and killed all of the population. They gathered all the people of a town in a barn and burned them alive, children and mothers and fathers and granddads. In Belarus they destroyed >600 towns and killed all the people. In the Sovjet Union 20,000,000 human beings were murdered by the Nazis. They set up factories to kill hundreds of thousands of families more efficiently.
Really I think we must fight against present-day authoritarianism. But we should not fight the wrong struggle. Know thine enemy. 🌸
@helenS Dear helenS;The only difference is that there it happened to white people. There are indigenous groups that don’t exist here anymore.

@helenS I agree with both sides here. It's important not to superimpose past sins on an as-of-yet innocent president (with regard to this one issue). However, we live in a world of instant accountability and information. Were the media not truly the enemy of Trump for the light and lens they offer, he'd be doing nefarious things in shadows and we wouldn't even know about it. Darkness is the bedfellow of oppression everywhere.
@Graylight Would anyone have ever imagined that the “civilized” Germans—who gave the world Bach, Beethoven, Goethe—could be capable of such actions in the 20th century ? Not until it happened. Good to “know one’s enemy”, but better still to understand history.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@bijouxbroussard AND...it didn't happen overnight like so many seem to think. Nazi Germany took years and years to evolve through the tiny erosions of freedoms in groups no one cared about at first. Of course, by the time a basement floods, everyone's wet.
@Graylight Exactly.

@Graylight The Nazis started killing people in 1919. They killed and killed more and more people. They never stopped killing people, until they were finally defeated.
The history of Nazism is a history of murder right from the start.
@helenS The KKK began killing people after the Civil War ended in this country, from the 1870s through the 1960s. George Lincoln Rockwell established the American Nazi Party in 1959 and in many instances they and the KKK have joined forces. They have consistently backed Donald Trump and he has been hesitant to criticize them too harshly.

@bijouxbroussard Thank you - I did not know this (about the KKK and American Nazis backing DT).
