@hippyjoe1955 Yeah, 150 years ago. They switched to the GOP by the 1970s after Nixon's (R) Southern Strategy. If you really believed what you just said, you'd be demanding that statues of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and other Democrats be torn down.

@hippyjoe1955 Since you're a Canadian, I'll cut you some slack. The southern US is almost solidly Republican, and has been for decades. Although that may turn around this year as Trump is losing popularity. But Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina have solid Republican majorities. By the way, those were the states with the highest percentage of slaves before the Civil War. Conservative Democrats in those states switched to conservative Republican, just as liberal Republicans in the northeast switched to liberal Democrats.

You should really study US history before commenting on it.
