Can you agree to disagree?

Or will you be hitting the block button as soon an alternate view is expressed? 🤷‍♀️ Personally, I respect everyone to the best of my ability and don’t get upset by different opinions. But we all take risks when engaging on controversial topics.

That’s a tough one. I admit, some topics push my buttons. For example, I recently blocked someone that I actually used to like because they concluded a lengthy conversation by informing me that “black people aren’t treated any differently than anyone else in the U.S.—they just don’t want to obey the law.”

Btw, this person had never lived in the U.S. and perhaps obviously, isn’t black.
I blocked her so I wouldn’t call her a “racist piece of crap”. And I sat, shaken that I could’ve misjudged someone so completely. 😞

@bijouxbroussard smh I may have to go back and change my answer because yes this almost exact situation has happened to me before. From a friend of 10 years I was completely shock to my core to have known and been friends with someone like that for so long. She did live here in America though. I live in georgia so you can guess how friendly my state is to us I'm sure 😳. I thought she was different I was completely wrong and heart broken by it.

@bijouxbroussard I understand. I think that’s okay. What they said was pretty racist. And of course we’re all anonymous here so you didn’t end a personal relationship. It’s human to get triggered by things like that.
@SunKiss3d I’m so sorry you experienced that after trusting and befriending someone. The surreal part is, they’re not trying to be cruel, they honestly believe these things. 😳

@bijouxbroussard yes exactly that's what shocked me the most her exact words were "you aren't like those other black people because you're mixed with white so your a good person"

How do you even respond to that smh. it just broke my heart no matter how much I tried to talk with her and get her to understand race has nothing to do with someone personality. She just couldn't see it and I couldn't be around her anymore without feeling some type of way and thinking about it every time I looked at her. So I just backed away slowly and never spoke to her again.
@SunKiss3d (((hugs))) 🥺
