What would be a reason for nuclear war?

I had a dream a nuclear war started. Can't think of a single reason or good reason personally.

Probably aren't many good reasons. But that doesn't matter much. I guess it could be argued that the bombs in WW2 may have actually saved lives in the long run. But that's not much of an argument given the horrific deaths of so many innocents.
