Defund the Left!

The cry from the left now is to invite further chaos and anarchy to defund the police. It does two things - appeases the anarchists and short sighted left. And 2nd - sets up a framework to federalize the police to ensure complete control.

So, if we want to defund stuff that doesn't work and is harmful to the country,
how about we defund the left?

And, just like the left doesn't feel a need to articulate what they meant, I'll leave it to your imagination what defunding the left would look like.

I think we need to fund them more so that every cop has a body camera and processes set up for higher accountability. #OverFundThePolice.

@SevIsPamprinYouAlways Are you asking me? Or trying to prove something?
SevIsPamprinYouAlways · 56-60, F
@DarkHeaven I think defunding completely is a really bad idea. There needs to be a police department, because criminals gonna criminal. But they don’t need to be outfitted in tactical armor to do it, nor turn their body cameras off, nor slice tires of peaceful protesters, nor shove up a 75 year old man to the ground and deny that it happened despite video evidence, etc, etc.
@SevIsPamprinYouAlways Agreed. With the money could come some oversight on how it’s spent.
@SevIsPamprinYouAlways Oversight and accountability is all that can fix this but diverting resources is a terrible idea. It may cost more money... at least in the short term, and a body camera mandatory for every police officer (to protect them when they are in the right as well) is a must have.

I may be a liberal, but I agree that defunding completely is a bad idea. But the police cannot exercise oversight over themselves, or receive qualified immunity. It’s called the Blue Wall of Silence for a reason @Nothingness]
@SevIsPamprinYouAlways This isn’t a political issue. It’s a safety one. We can all agree on this.

OK - good. I appreciate that you've actually made a comment.

The left IS pushing the idea to defund police.
You've said you think that is a bad idea.

So, what do you think the leftist base should do about that?
SevIsPamprinYouAlways · 56-60, F
I don’t have the answer to that, but I can tell you that not every Democrat is yearning for this to happen. The problem is that both sides of the political spectrum view each other as taking extreme positions and apply it universally to all members of the respective parties.

As far as responding without a meme, I once upon a time used to try and respond with a rational argument, but got tired of herp derp Democrap, Lie-beral, Liberal Tears, etc, so now I just troll. Again this is the result of polarization, and now it’s become force of habit. @Budwick
@SevIsPamprinYouAlways Just please be careful with that. You don’t know me at all or what I think. I’m not political at all but I do have a couple issues I care about and this is one of them.
SevIsPamprinYouAlways · 56-60, F
Just the result of polarization. This is also a hot-button issue for me. . @DarkHeaven
@SevIsPamprinYouAlways I know what kindness and compassion look like and I just do that.

@DarkHeaven that’s a good idea and I’m sure the police would agree.
@Driver2 I grew up in a very rural community and my Dad personally knows the sheriff and police... we all do. They are good people and have literally been begging for body cams to protect them when there’s a question of wether they did the right thing or not but there’s no money for these cams.

I know several myself through colleagues who are married to them, and attend events with their spouse. They are good people. They’re also members of a city department whose task force planted drugs on civilians and robbed drug dealers in a systematic fashion without turning it over to the department. This went on for years, with no oversight enacted. It’s the bad actors, who have been on full display during the protests that are is flaming things.

The issue is that now civilians are able to capture this as video footage in real time, and it ‘s stoking tension. I am having the same argument as you with liberal friends about proper funding, trust me. It’s very fortunate, however, that a database accessible to all Americans including this level of lawlessness among a few (and sometimes many) bad actors on the force is being caught on video, because it at the very least may result in proper oversight being enacted, and real brakes out on qualified immunity. The center cannot hold when police turn against citizens who are exercising their First Amendment right to protest, nor when they feel entitled exercise their power abusively against civilians. @DarkHeaven
@SevIsPamprinYouAlways I agree. This is a safety issue, not a political one. Good luck to you with convincing them that police brutality can affect everyone of all sides.
