Putting our finger in front of the sun

A Trump-backing Oregon county that helped lead the charge to reopen has seen a spike in coronavirus cases — by 27%.

Turns out hot air doesn't keep the virus away.

I'm putting my hope on vit. D more than hot air being the reason why tropical/warmer countries experienced much smaller outbreaks than we did (even here in Italy, the colder north got hit much worse than the warmer and sunnier south, even after people mass migrated there when the lockdown decree was leaked, in a period when we never see the sun over here due to the fog and grey skies no less). There are some studies that found many correlation, which sure could not be causal, but who knows. If supplementing the population helps at least preventing hospitals getting overwhelmed it wouldn't be bad at all.

@Elessar Most of those studies were extrapolations of characteristics of other viruses, but we really have no idea how Coronavirus is going to work. We keep hearing that warmer climates a dampen it, and that may be true to a small extent. It has no trouble at all growing here in Florida, where it's humid and 93 degrees. Dengue Fever flourishes in tropical climates. So does Ebola, and HIV.

Vitamin D is great to have, but we all get what we need from the sun and food. It may strengthen your immune system to a point, but it's not going to keep a virus away. We know what works. We've proven it, demonstrated it. They are the only measures Our Idiot in Chief will not support.

@Graylight There's a very interesting theory regarding T-cells emerging actually.

@Quizzical I'll look into it. There's another theory involving androgen as a possible factor, meaning not only that there would be a difference in infection of a male and females, but it leads the way toward possible therapy. Other research is looking at Route so long our DNA as a possible explanation for why The Simpsons are so incredibly varied.

I think the bottom line is that in our culture, we think we deserve and so we expect immediate information and answers. Sometimes those just don't come and we can't dictate their schedule. Right now it's all just puzzle pieces.

@Graylight Aren't The Simpsons all yellow? 😏 lol
