While I believe that Obama knew what happened and broke the law, I don't believe we should investigate or question previous presidents. It's a bad precedent. We don't need to litigate a previous president when power changes.
Having said that, the people under a president are fair game if probable cause points to criminal activity.
In this case, people in the FBI, DOJ and the intelligence community should be investigated.
@HoraceGreenley That was Obama's mistake, to not go after Howdy Doody in the interest of "national unity." My main concern with Biden is that he will let Twitler skate for the same reason. Fortunately, the New York State AG has sealed indictments ready to be served the minute Twitler is out of office, so federal action may not even be necessary. Plus, Twitler can't pardon himself for state-level crimes.
@HoraceGreenley One of the reasons corruption is so rampant in high political offices is because those in in high office are never held to account for their actions. The problem is discerning between those policies that were driven by concerns of the day and those that were done out of personal vindictiveness or malfeasance. Do I think Bush should be charged with starting the Iraq war? I was against the war from its inception but it was a policy that stemmed from the issues of the day. That policy is vastly different than say Obama using the IRS to go after a writer who said he was supposedly in Obama's class in college but never met Obama and no one else in the class has any memory of him either. Somewhere in there there must be a way to investigate and castigate a past president gone rogue.
@hippyjoe1955 It is a difficult balance. I just believe that if you open Pandora's box, the result is endless score settling and the country devolves into a banana republic.
@HoraceGreenley He can be prosecuted for prior actions after he leaves office. The DOJ rule against indicting a sitting president isn't in the Constitution. It's merely department policy.
We're already a banana republic. I can guarantee that if the Republicans win a House majority in 2022, their first order of business will be to impeach Biden.
@HoraceGreenley TBH I sincerely doubt he will be the democrat nominee. Too much against him including his rapidly advancing senility. He should be looking for a secure retirement home not pretending he is going to be president some day. I often think that Jeff Dunham's Walter dummy would be a good stand in for Biden.
