There was a lot of people who stalled on the virus, but only Trump gets the blame.

@Virgo79 There is a difference between stalling and completely denying it though, and nobody else called for people to ignore the WHO recommendations. But it's true that many others have plenty to be blamed for as well.

The WHO said early on, that it could not be transported from one person to another....@SW-User

@Platinum Very early on indeed. But they changed that as soon as new information came in, which was within weeks.

Which proves my point, but you forgive them for being wrong but not Trump...@SW-User

@Platinum It's all about circumstances. It's a new virus and we have to act on what little we know. Mistakes were made because we were wrong about the virus was capable of, and even when it started to become apparent, many leaders still responded way too little, which caused a lot of damage. I never denied they are the blame and never said they should be forgiven.

I'm only saying that Trump is taking it not only to a new level, but into a whole different ballpark. When the WHO said in the first week everyone could keep doing what they always did, it was because nobody knew any better. This was a mistake, but they came back on that as soon as they realized this. It's not forgivable, but they moved on to do a better job. Trump giving the same advice months later with a lot more knowledge is completely irresponsible.

[@OpenMindedPhiloSWopher.....I never said Trump was not making mistakes, but he is still doing a difficult job, whatever he does will be wrong...in the uk they are making mistakes but they are still taking advice from so called experts and getting the wrong information...lets hope we come out of this quickly....
SW-User
@Platinum Everyone is doing a difficult job for sure, whether they are a world leader or a regular citizen. We still don't know everything, so assumptions play a big role. The UK isn't doing much better either indeed.

There is not a single proven good approach, so the best we can do is stay away from clearly wrong approaches and hope for the best. Let's indeed follow the least damaging approaches and keep fighting influential figures who encourage approaches that have been proven to be extremely damaging like Trump.

The U.K. Death rate is coming down, at the peak around 1000 a day and now we are down to the 300+ a day but as we are slowly come out of lockdown, we will have to see if it climbs again....it is still too high...@SW-User

@Platinum London r rate is down , but was said today there is an increase in infection rate , and if you have seen the tubes and buses this week , they were packed just like before this virus, I would not be surprised if our r rate goes up another week when figures come out, I do hope I am wrong
PlatinumM
I've already said we are going back too early ....it will take two weeks to know if this return to work has increased deaths and those infected....I hope you are wrong...@Nyloncapes

@Platinum yes it seems people have seen this going back as a green light to just getting back to normal now and just going where ever they want, down the coast, the weather forecast for this weekend the south coast will be packed, yes totally agree with about going back to early, and as you say 2 weeks before we know any figures

Took the dog over the park this afternoon and there was groups of kids and families everywhere all sitting close together..I live in clacton and it will be packed this weekend...@Nyloncapes

@Platinum I know I have seen it , and in the parks and parks in London, imagine if we have to go into lockdown again because we get an increase in r rate will be much stricter rules how will people react to that, and economy
